Common questions

Do I need headphones?

For the binaural sounds, yes. They play a slightly different tone in each ear, and the beats need both ears to be heard, so use stereo headphones or earbuds. Some sounds, like the isochronic tones, pulses and noise, play fine from a speaker too. The app marks which ones.

Will it keep playing in the background or with the screen locked?

Yes. The sound keeps going when you switch apps or lock your phone, and the sleep timer still ends it. You can control playback from the lock screen, the Dynamic Island on iPhones that have one, the notification on Android, and your earbuds.

How does the sleep timer work?

Pick how long you want to listen. When the time is up, the sound fades out and stops.

What are routines?

A routine chains several sounds into one session, moving from one into the next. You make one in Build a routine. Settle is free to use. Saving and editing your own routines will be a one-off purchase, not a subscription. It isn’t on sale yet.

How do I restore my purchase on a new phone?

Open Settings in Settle and tap Restore purchases, signed in to the same Apple or Google account you bought it with. The purchase comes back, but your routines don’t move across with it: they’re saved on the phone itself. If you set up the new phone from a backup of the old one, they may come along with the backup. For anything else about a purchase, email [email protected].

What happens to my data?

Settle collects nothing. There’s no account, no ads and no tracking, and everything you do in the app stays on your device. The privacy policy has the details.

Is there anything I should know about health and safety?

Settle is an audio app, not a medical device. It doesn’t diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. For medical advice, talk to a doctor.

  • Don’t use it while driving or operating machinery.
  • If you have epilepsy or a seizure disorder, have a heart condition or a pacemaker, are pregnant, or have any concerns, check with a doctor first.
  • Stop listening if you feel unwell.
  • Keep the volume at a comfortable level.

Does it work with accessibility features?

Yes. Settle works with VoiceOver, TalkBack and Voice Control, and supports larger text and Reduce Motion. Settings also has a High contrast switch, which turns on by itself when your phone’s own contrast setting is on.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad, and Android phones and tablets.

Something isn’t working. What should I send?

Sorry about that. Email [email protected] and tell us:

  • your phone or tablet model
  • its iOS or Android version
  • the Settle version, from Settings or the app’s page in the App Store or Google Play
  • what you did, and what happened.
